Asphodeline liburnica, commonly known as Jacob's rod, is a clump-forming, deciduous perennial native to south-eastern Europe and the Aegean islands. It has slender, willowy stems with narrow, blue-green, grass-like leaves and produces spires of pale yellow, star-shaped flowers with green stripes on the petals. It typically blooms in midsummer. It is excellent for dry, rocky slopes and gravel gardens, and provides architectural contrast when grown alongside ornamental grasses. It attracts bees and supports pollinators. Its native range includes south-eastern Europe and the Aegean Islands, specifically countries such as Albania, Bulgaria, Greece, Italy, Croatia and parts of the Balkans, as well as Turkey and Lebanon.

It grows to a height of 50–150 cm and a width of 10–50 cm. It flowers a little later than Asphodeline lutea and the two plants look great when grown together in an open, sunny gravel garden. Cut back in early spring if necessary to refresh.
