The Yunnan Orchid or Climbing Chinese Orchid Tree is a hardy tendril bearing Bauhinia capable of climbing or attaching to a frame or structure. Flowers are much like other Bauhinias except they have altogether thinner petals making them look delicate and even more orchid-like. The flowers are five petalled light lavender purple to rose pink with a deep purple central vein. Foliage is heart shaped, the leaves strikingly symmetrical and butterfly-like. The new foliage has small heart-shaped delicate leaves that are presented on long elegant, drooping branchlets as the plant searches for structures to secure to.

This Bauhinia probably does best in a deep soil where it can get its roots out and will definitely benefit from some shelter during the hottest months. Occasional deep watering to look its best.
