Product Details

'Albus' is the less commonly seen white-flowered form of the popular Red Valerian. Small, star-shaped, fragrant white flowers appear in dense terminal clusters from spring and continue through summer. Very drought tolerant fleshy green leaves contrast well with the pure white flowers.

It is an old cottage garden plant ideally adapted to colonising crumbling walls or stony banks. It is very attractive to pollinating insects. If not deadheaded, flowers give way to dandelion-like seed heads which are typically disbursed around the landscape by wind. Remove spent flowers before seeding if this is a problem.

Young shoots and leaves can be used in salads.
