Echium decaisnei is native to Gran Canaria in the Canary Islands and is a tough shrub, growing to around 1 metre. The white flowers, with pretty pink/blue throats, are adored by bees and other pollinators. It’s perfect for growing at the back of a mixed, sunny border but will also thrive in the harshest of conditions such as cracks in rocks, and we've seen it doing particularly well on motorway embankment slopes. Small plants placed into clefts in rocks or scree slopes can survive if planted in November, providing there is some rain. It will need well drained soil, but is otherwise undemanding.
