California Fuchsia - This is a dense, sprawling perennial native to the Californian foothills and coastal areas. Bright red-orange tubular flowers attract birds and insects when they bloom in the summer and fall. Normally it goes dormant and dies back in winter. It performs best in full sun and although it is drought tolerant it is reputed to require water once a month in summer.

To be honest we don't know much about this plant here in the Algarve, we took cuttings from a garden parent plant near Faro - so we'd welcome any comments if you have some experiences with it.
