'Verde Select' is a naturally occurring variation of the 'Blue Select' cultivar. This clumping perennial grass occasionally has to be separated from the blue form in the nursery. We like it and have therefore decided to offer it for sale as a green variety. Otherwise, they are identical to the blue variety and, like the blue variety, they form perfectly round, dense 30 cm mounds of fine, gracefully curving green-grey foliage. The plants make wonderful accents and are ideal for bordering walkways. They also look great in mixed containers. They are easy to grow and tolerate heat, drought and poor soil. This fescue is more uniform in size and more vibrant than ordinary blue fescue. While it is very similar to the better-known 'Elijah Blue', you can see the difference when they are planted side by side. The texture is also different.

For a more natural-looking effect, the two plants can be mixed together to create variation. Other than combing out dead leaves in the spring, they require little maintenance. This will encourage new growth.
