Thymus citriodorus, commonly known as lemon thyme or citrus thyme, is an aromatic evergreen sub-shrub in the mint family (Lamiaceae). Although it was once thought to be a hybrid between Thymus pulegioides and Thymus vulgaris, recent DNA analysis has shown that it is actually a distinct species.

Native to much of Southern Europe and widely cultivated in the Mediterranean region, it thrives in full sun and well-drained soils, preferably calcareous. Drought-tolerant, it grows to a height of 15–30 cm and a width of 30–45 cm, forming a low, spreading mat. It features small yellow-green leaves with a strong lemon scent and produces tiny, pale pink to lavender flowers in mid to late summer which attract bees and butterflies.
Lemon thyme is valued for its culinary, medicinal and ornamental uses. The leaves can be used fresh or dried in cooking, salads and herbal teas. Its essential oil, which is rich in geraniol, is used in aromatherapy, skincare products and perfumery, as well as being a natural antiseptic. Lemon thyme also serves as an effective ground cover or border plant and can be planted between stepping stones in gardens. It spreads moderately through seed dispersal and layering — it is not invasive — where the stems take root wherever they touch the ground, particularly on loose gravel surfaces. Although it can gradually expand to form a dense mat up to 45 cm wide, this can easily be managed with light pruning.
